Rutgers grinds out win over Merrimack as Ace Bailey carries offense with elite performance

After the best offensive performance of the Steve Pikiell era against Monmouth, Rutgers returned to its grind-it-out roots.
The Scarlet Knights (4-0) stayed undefeated with an 74-63 win over Merrimack (1-2) on Wednesday night that saw them struggle to score. While they were an efficient 41.2% (7-of-17) on threes, they shot 41.9% on twos (18-of-43) — including 54.5% (12-of-22) at the rim — against Merrimack’s unique zone, then went 73.9% (17-of-23) from the free throw line.
